Energy Healing Techniques

I practise Reiki & Therapeutic Touch as main techniques for Energy Healing, which can be used combined as a powerful method of Healing, depending on the needs of the receiver.

Reiki

Reiki is an Energy Healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Reiki works by opening up the communication channels that enable cells in the body to talk to each other, and opening up the terrain through which cells are able to migrate to places where they are needed to initiate repair or to fight diseases. Another is that these methods help to calm the person so their immune functions can operate smoothly

Reiki is a formal system of healing from Japan which was born out of concepts of Buddhism. It is a revival of an ancient system of knowledge which is a complement to modern medicine.

The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ literally translates as Universal Life Force Energy. This system of healing was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that has been taught and used in the UK since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has for thousands of years worked with this energy, recognising its flow through all living things.

Reiki supports conventional medicine or can be used alone but is not a replacement for traditional medication or treatments. It is not based on any religion, belief, faith or suggestion; yet, scientific research using quantum physics is starting to help us to understand how Reiki may work to benefit the individual. It has been suggested that in years to come it may be known as energy medicine based on scientifically measurable energy emitted from the healer’s hands.

Reiki is given fully clothed in a quiet environment and is safe for adults, children, mothers–to–be, babies and pets. However in the case of animals with health issues, owners should confirm that the animal has been seen by a veterinary surgeon to obtain a diagnosis.

My Reiki Lineage

A Reiki lineage is the line of teaching that a teacher has been trained in, similar to a family tree.  A teacher's lineage reflects the information that the teacher will be passing on to the student. Therefore, different lineages will have different techniques, philosophies and understandings of working with the system of Reiki. Some lineages even have different histories.

It is important when choosing Reiki as a Healing System that your practitioner is able to provide you with a full unbroken training lineage tracing back to Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki.

I have been initiated and trained in London was by one of the most renowned and respected Masters in England, under the Western Reiki lineage & Traditional Japanese Reiki. My training reflects the latest research and developments in the field of Reiki Healing.

Scientific research

• When giving Reiki, practitioners have been shown to emit electro-magnetic or bio-magnetic energy from their hands. The frequencies of the energy emitted vary from one moment to the next; but many appear to correspond to those that medical researchers have identified as being the optimum frequencies for stimulating the healing process in tissues, bones and other body parts so far investigated.

• The bio-magnetic energy (or field) flowing from a practitioner’s hands has been shown to induce current flows in the tissues and cells of individuals who are in close proximity but this pulsing energy is not produced by non-practitioners of energy healing techniques.

Two ways in which these pulsing magnetic fields may stimulate repair of bone and other tissues include:

1- A cascade of reactions takes place from the cell surface to the cytoplasm and on to the nucleus and genes, where selective effects on the DNA have been documented.

2- A phenomenon called amplification, in which a single hormone molecule, neurotransmitter

or photon of electromagnetic energy has been shown to trigger a cellular response; and in fact very tiny fields have been shown to produce the best effects, suggesting that living tissues are much more sensitive to external fields than previously considered possible.

NB: A bio-magnetic field can also be created by passing electric currents though living tissue as has been used for medical diagnoses and treatments for almost a century for example in ECG & MRI scanning.

Reiki is often referred to as an intelligent form of healing. It is suggested that this and similar energy therapies may be valuable in the prevention and remission of some serious diseases that are so costly in terms of human suffering and likely to be more expensive to health care in the future.

Reiki works by opening up the communication channels that enable cells in the body to talk to each other, and opening up the terrain through which cells are able to migrate to places where they are needed to initiate repair or to fight diseases. Another is that these methods help to calm the person so their immune functions can operate smoothly.

Reiki is activated by the practitioner´s intention, opening up their communication channels to understand where healing is most required on the body and for how long to caringly help the person or animal concerned.

Visualisation techniques can also be embodied as an element of Reiki treatments at a professional practising level, which also creates measurable electrical and magnetic fields and so can enhance its effectiveness.

It is widely accepted that Reiki can be given and received equally effectively hands-off or via distant healing.

Therapeutic Touch (TT)

Therapeutic touch, or TT, is an Energy Healing technique derived from an ancient laying—on of hands method. In TT, the practitioner alters the patient's energy field through an energy transfer that moves from the hands of the practitioner to the patient.

I have been trained has as a Therapeutic Touch Practitioner, in line with the traditional system developed by Dolores Krieger and Dora Kuntz.

Therapeutic touch was developed in 1972 by Dora Kunz, a psychic healer, and Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., R.N, a nurse and professor of nursing at New York University. The year before, in 1971, when Krieger was working as a registered nurse in a hospital, she became very frustrated when one of her patients, a 30-year-old female, lay dying from a gallbladder condition. In desperation, she tried what she was learning from Kunz.

Within one treatment, the patient's condition began to shift and she lived, surprising the other hospital staff. Krieger and Kunz met during the study of Oskar Estebany, a world—renowned healer. They had invited Estebany to form a study for three years, observing his work with patients. In this study, Estebany practiced laying—on of hands healing on various patients. Using her psychic and intuitive abilities, Kunz would observe and assist in the healing, while Krieger recorded the activities of the healing session and created profiles of the patients.

As the study progressed, Kunz began teaching Krieger how to heal, based on her perceptions of Estebany's healing techniques. During her research of ancient healing methods, Krieger concluded that the energy transfer between the healer and the healee that takes place in a TT session is prana, an Eastern Indian concept representing energy, vitality, and vigor. Krieger then combined her research with Kunz's techniques to create TT.

TT was initially developed for persons in the health professions, but is currently taught worldwide to anyone who is interested in learning the technique. As of 1998, an estimated 100,000 people around the world have been trained in TT; 43,000 of those persons are health care professionals, many of whom use TT in conjunction with traditional medicine, as well as osteopathic, chiropractic, naturopathic, and homeopathic therapies. TT is taught in over 100 colleges, universities, and medical schools

Scientific research

The major effects of TT are relaxation, pain reduction, accelerated healing, and alleviation of psychosomatic symptoms. Studies have shown that TT has a beneficial effect on the blood as it has the ability to raise hemoglobin values. It also affects brain waves to induce a relaxed state. TT can induce the relaxation response often within five minutes.

Krieger has said that it is not individual illnesses that validate the effectiveness of TT, but rather, it is questioned which systems are most sensitive to TT. She and others have found that the most sensitive is the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which, for example, controls urination. The ANS is followed by dysfunctions of lymphatic and circulatory systems, and then finally musculoskeletal systems. In addition, the female endocrine system is more sensitive to TT than the corresponding male system. Thus, TT helps with dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, problems with contraception, and the course of pregnancy.

TT is reported to have a positive effect on the immune system and thus accelerates the healing of wounds. Nurses use therapeutic touch in operating rooms to relax patients before surgery and in recovery rooms on postoperative patients to help speed the healing process. TT is used in the treatment of terminally ill patients, such as those with cancer and autoimmune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), to relieve anxiety and stress, create peace of mind, and reduce pain.

Many nurses use TT in the nursery. The conditions of many premature babies who received TT reportedly improved rapidly. TT has been used to calm colicky infants, assist women in childbirth, and increase milk let-down in breast-feeding mothers.

Other benefits of TT include relief of acute pain, nausea, diarrhea, tension and migraine headaches, fever, and joint and tissue swelling. TT has been used to treat thyroid imbalances, ulcers, psychosomatic illnesses, premenstrual syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, stroke and coma, multiple sclerosis, measles, infections, asthma, and bone and muscle injuries.

Therapeutic touch is performed in many different locations, including healing centers, delivery rooms, hospitals, hospice settings, accident scenes, homes, and schools.
